Graham Gribbin is the owner of the old Saint Andrew’s Church in Holmfield, Halifax. Graham has turned the church into one of the Uk's leading Piano retail centres.
In 2022 Graham, an ex-director of music at Halifax Minster, purchased the Church and began work on transforming the building into a home for his business GSG Pianos Ltd. Graham spent a year refurbishing the Church (renamed The Old Chapel) adding a new heating system and replacement windows.
Between 60-80 pianos are on display at the showroom at any one time. An organ has been installed in the chancel and a workshop area, for piano renovations and repairs, is also located within the Church. Graham and his team have unique skills enabling them to restore and give new life to pianos of all ages.
The Church has become an important hub for music tuition, exams and performance events offering an opportunity for pianists of all abilities to perform to an audience.
According to Graham- "The Church of England said there was never a more appropriate change of use for a decommissioned church than this conversion”
Graham feels the Church has a welcoming, calm, familiar feeling reminiscent of a school hall or chapel. People immediately feel at home in the building. While according to Annette (pictured), a Piano tuner who works from the centre, the personality of the church is ‘calmly stoic!’
