The Pitt began life as a street food market on Pitt Street in Leith. Established by Harry (Hal) Prescott and Scott Kirkham, it operated until October 2022 when it closed due to redevelopment plans for the area.
In 2023, The Pitt, re-established itself as the Granton Project Community Interest Community and is now based in a former warehouse on an industrial estate at West Shore Road on the Granton Promenade. It forms an anchor tenant for the North Edinburgh regeneration development scheme.
The Pitt now offers a 700-capacity events space, a free to access indoor hall, bars, games, kids play area, indoor market for local traders, outdoor sauna, outdoor street food market, co-working spaces and artist studios.
The Pitt is a fascinating example of how traditional industrial buildings can be reimagined and repurposed.
